COURSE DESCRIPTIONThe course starts south of Auckland in the small seaside settlement of Kaiaua. Runners traverses the Hunua Ranges Regional Park to the rural town of Clevedon. The highlights include scenic reservoir views, native bush, forestry and farmlands. The course is 100% runnable and made up of a combination of gravel roads, single track trails and chip-seal roads. The 50km ULTRA FIVE-0 is an achievable course for athletes of all abilities. |

AID STATIONSAid stations are located at each of the four check points. The 50km course offers you the opportunity to refuel, rehydrate, see your support crew and prepare for the next sector of your journey. Aid Stations have water, GU electrolyte drink, bananas, muesli bars, lollies and a whole lot more.
DROP BAGA drop bag service will be offered where you will be able to check-in a bag on race morning at the registration area which will be brought to the below check point with your own personal supplies(gels, food, socks, shoes, clothing, lubricant, etc). A bag will be supplied at registration.
Check Point 2 (25km) If you intend to meet your support crew at the Check Point 2 aid station, do not use the drop bag service. TRAINING ON THE COURSEAccess into the Clevedon end of the course on Otau Mountain Road is not permitted while logging trucks are operating on weekdays. We strongly advise you to use this road on weekends and public holidays only. Parking is prohibited at the top of Otau Mountain Road. Please keep the turning circle clear for service and emergency vehicles. BUS TRANSPORT TO RACE STARTS
If you do not have someone dropping you at the start line you can leave your car at the finish line at the A&P Showgrounds in Clevedon and get a bus to the start. Buses to the start of the Solo 50km start at 5:45am.
Please allow yourself plenty of time to get parked, registered if you haven’t done it on Friday, and to the bus stop in time for its departure. The Bus trip is approximately 60min long. FINISHER MEDALAll 50km finishers receive a medal.
AWARDSAll awards are awarded at the prize-giving which will take place at 2:00pm in front of the stage at the A&P Showgrounds. Awards will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, 3rd placing in each age group category for Men and Women in the Solo 50km, and will be based on participants mat time. The age group categories are as follows for men and women;
Solo 50KM 18-19 years, 20-29 years, 30-39 years, 40-49 years, 50-59 years, 60-69 years, 70+ years. MANDATORY GEARThe mandatory gear list contains what is the minimum to keep you safe during the event and in unpredictable weather systems. If you would normally take something extra on a run of this duration, you should still take it. The course passes through remote areas, where protection from the elements and medical/support could take a while. The mandatory gear must be carried at all times.

We encourage you to practice carrying all of this gear in your training.

Support crews can see you and assist you at Check Point 2 only. Assistance can include moral and verbal support, physical support, food and nutrition, hydration, and gear and equipment changes.
Support crews can only assist their athletes in the designated Check Point area. If you intend to meet your support crew at an Check Point 2 aid station, do not use the drop bag service. The road that access Check Point 2 aid station is gravel rural, narrow and windy. Please take care driving on these, particularly with increased traffic during the event. |
